What makes a protocol better over another? What makes a protocol stand out in the sea of forked replicas?

Is it code? In the DeFi space where open sourcing is a common, almost expected, practice, code can be forked. Features that offer mere incremental and marginal improvements are rarely noticed. Every now and then, someone comes up with something truly new and innovative, but that doesn’t always mean that it’s going to be a valuable invention.

Is it capital then? While most AMMs have locking and vesting mechanisms, capital is still relatively liquid and mobile. Both retail and organized investors are sensitive to yield rates and opportunity costs, and are almost guaranteed to search and move once there is something better.

We think no matter how much we love decentralization, protocols are still ultimately developed and run by people. The founders, together with the community of users, are what makes a protocol tick.

In today’s update, we want to take a closer look at the people behind Libra Exchange and learn more about them.

Who are you: Full-time degen retail trader who used to work as a cryptocurrency trader in a proprietary trading firm. I’ve been doing strategy for various cryptocurrency and DeFi protocols. Nowadays I just trade at home.

When did you get into crypto: I first bought some ETH and BTC in 2017 but I paperhanded too early. I got into DeFi because of my day job.

What does Libra mean to you: I have been following and interacting with various DeFi protocols for several years now and I understand the shortcomings and strengths of many protocols. Most of the protocols are stand-alone products. I envision Libra Exchange to launch a suite of products that complement each other and help retail traders to get access to financial services that are traditionally only available to institutions and high net worth individuals. At the same time, I hope to forge a strong community through Libra and learn from everyone.

What do you do in your free time: I play DOTA 2 occasionally.

Who are you: I’m Asian, based in SEA. I’m currently managing communities for Web3 startups.

When did you get into crypto: I first bought some ETH in 2018. Changed my life not because of the money I made but it got me interested in Web3.

What does Libra mean to you: I felt that with increasing scrutiny on centralized exchanges, DEX is the way ahead. What I want to do is create a product that would not only appeal to the masses but also convenient to use.

What do you do in your free time: I play trading card games, like Magic The Gathering.

When did you get into crypto: I got into crypto in early 2017. Got into DeFi since 2019 and NFTs since 2020.

What does Libra mean to you: I’ve always been immensely fascinated in the application of game theory and social gamification in DeFi and NFTs. My personal objective is to help Libra Exchange become a prominent leading DeFi protocol in the Arbitrum ecosystem.
